This $1,500.00 memorial scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Zackery Tyler Jones who tragically lost his life to suicide on the night of his high school graduation.

This scholarship seeks to honor his memory by supporting students who may have faced similar personal challenges, and/or are committed to mental health advocacy. It aims to provide educational opportunities to those who have shown resilience, compassion, and dedication to helping others through their own experiences of aspirations.

By awarding this scholarship, we hope to continue Zackery’s legacy of strength and hope, promoting awareness and support for mental health among the student community.

The Zackery Tyler Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Qualifications

To be eligible for the Zackery Tyler Memorial Scholarship offered by The Zackery Tyler and Russell Doyle Foundation, inc., applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Enrollment Status: Must be currently enrolled or accepted as a full-time student in an accredited Utah High School for the current academic year: Fall of 2024-Spring of 2025.

  2. Academic Achievement: There are no minimum GPA requirements for this scholarship. The only academic requirement is that the applicant must receive a Utah State high school diploma prior to scholarship being awarded on June 7th, 2025.

  3. This scholarship is open to any field of study.

  4. Residency: Applicant must be a legal resident of Utah or hold a valid student visa.

  5. Financial Need: Applicant may enter information regarding financial need, however, that is not a qualifying factor for the scholarship award.

  6. Additional Requirements:

    • Submit a 500 word (or less) personal statement addressing you career goals, demonstrating community involvement, and include any challenges you may have overcome. (Note - This can be included on the application under the ‘Why I am a Strong Candidate’ or ‘Extracurricular activities and Community Involvement’ section)

  7. Age or Grade Level: Must be a High School Senior residing in Utah or a recent graduate(2025) of a Utah High School, at the time of application.

  8. Non-Discrimination: does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic. All eligible applicants are encouraged to apply.

  9. Scholarship application Deadline is May 31, 2025 at 11:59PM MST. Scholarship will be awarded in person on June 7, 2025. Recipient will be notified no later than June 6th, at 5:00 PM MST. Recipient does not have to be present to accept the Scholarship.

Applicants who do not meet all eligibility criteria will not be considered. The Zackery Tyler and Russell Doyle Foundation, inc. reserves the right to verify all information provided and may request additional documentation. Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed.
